The Greenwich Junior United Way, which hosts townwide donation drives, annual events and other community initiatives, expanded to offer opportunities for middle school students "after years of proven impact from Greenwich high school students who have consistently demonstrated their ability to create meaningful change in their community," according to an announcement.

"I have seen firsthand the incredible work of the Greenwich Junior United Way and believed younger students, including my own middle schooler, could (meaningfully) contribute and benefit before high school," said Chelsea Woody, Greenwich United Wayboard member, in a statement.

The organization is open to middle school students from any Greenwich school. Every week, they will meet to "identify pressing challenges the town is facing and develop innovative solutions to address those challenges," the announcement said.
