Karen thinks like a journalist and understands what makes for a good story. She helps clients get beyond basic promotion of their products and services to participate in broader discussions as industry experts. Always working to establish her clients as valued resources for the media, Karen encourages an educational approach.
Prior to founding Bazini Hopp, Karen served as vice president in Cohn & Wolfe's New York Corporate/Technology practice where she was responsible for Dell's consumer products and worked on media relations for Nike, Darden Restaurants, CapGemini and Panasonic. With boutique agency Connors Communications she led the launch teams for technology companies including VideoEgg, RedRoller, Vonage and Goodmail Systems. With Euro RSCG Magnet she worked with IBM, JVC and MessageLabs (which was acquired by Symantec for $695MM in 2008). Her technology work began with Blanc & Otus San Francisco where she managed the agency's CEO Roundtable program and her account responsibilities included HP, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Identix, Fujitsu Software, Phoenix Technologies, Autodesk, Hotwire, InterTrust, iAmaze, eConnections and Resonate.
Karen started her career with ABC in New York, first with ABC Sports' public relations department and then with ABC News as a production assistant. While in college, she worked for the assignment desks at Connecticut's local CBS and FOX affiliates. Karen graduated from the University of Connecticut as a double major in Journalism and Communications and is a devoted fan of UConn Huskies basketball. She serves on the Board of Directors for The First Tee of Connecticut and Kids In Crisis, and is Secretary for the Greenwich Country Club’s Board of Governors. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and two children.
